Key Note User Guide

To access an A-Z list of Key Note’s Market Reports, simply click on the “Market Research” box in the centre of the screen.

To select the report you wish to view, click on the name of the report.

This will then bring you to the Executive Summary of the report. Reading through this will help to give you a brief overview of the report’s content.

To download this report into a PDF format, simply click on the PDF option at the top right of the screen.

On the left-hand side of the screen you will see links to each chapter of the report, to visit different chapters within the report simply click on the relevant chapter you wish to view.

75% of Key Note Market Reports now have two dynamic chapters. The first shows up to 200 of the top performing companies within the industry; this can be found under “Company Profiles”.

The second shows each company’s performance within that industry, and can be found under “League Tables”.

Company Profiles — When you are in this chapter you will find the companies in A-Z order; however, you can sort the companies in order by Turnover, Pre-Tax Profit or Number of Employees. You do this by simply clicking on the criteria you wish to sort by.

You can export this data to an Excel spreadsheet by clicking the “Export to Excel” tab.

League Tables — Within this chapter you will see each company’s ranking throughout 21 Key Ratios. Firstly, you will see the companies ranked by turnover. To switch to a different ratio, click on the black bar at the top of the screen.

To Benchmark these details, click the “Export to Benchmark” tab at the top of the page.

In either Company Profiles or League Tables, you can click on each individual company, and this will take you to the company’s own profile. This allows you to analyse the company in detail by clicking on one of the nine tabs shown below.

You can also view the company’s original Companies House Documents by clicking on the tab at the top right of the screen.

You can also view and download individual shareholder and director information for each company, by looking on the appointments tab.

List Builder — To access Key Note’s List Builder tool from the home page, you need to click on the Company Information box.

You will now have four options; click on the List Builder tab.

When in List Builder, you can start to create your own unique lists by searching using the 21 Key Criteria, which are split into four sections: Fundamentals, Financial, Geographic and Advisors.

Define your search by Geographic Region by using our interactive UK map.

To define your search further you can select by Postcode Prefix.

Key Note’s Benchmarking tool can be found under Company Information from the home page, then click on the Benchmarking tab on the right-hand side of the screen.

To create your own Benchmarking list, simply type the company numbers of each company you wish to benchmark in the box. You can have a maximum of 200 companies in each list.
