A slave has: No choice No freedom No money When we think of slavery today, we think of Black Africans: - they were captured, - they were sold into slavery and - they were taken to America to work in the cotton plantations in the Southern states. The first slaves arrived in America in 1619.
The Northern states’ economy was based on industries… … whereas the Southern states’ economy was based on agriculture. They needed workforce and used slaves to keep it unexpensive.
The Great Slave Debate Slavery is cruel and should be abolished Negro slaves have no worries. They have food, shelter and are not unemployed They have no right to tell us how to run our plantations. Black Africans are inferior to Whites and born to be slaves. All people should be equal. Their factory workers live in worse conditions than our slaves Find out the Southern and Northern views’ arguments Slaves have the right to choose what to do with their lives. Without slaves, the southern economy would collapse. Slaves have to be punished. It’s what they understand You should pay your workers a wage. You cannot call yourself a good Christian if you keep slaves.
