Who qualifies

Who Qualifies?

  • Early Retirement

    • Between 55 and 65 years old

    • Worked for the District for at least 10 years

  • Disability Retirement

    • Between 50 and 65 years old

    • Worked for the District for at least 15 years


Medical

Medical

  • Your early retiree medical plan is a continuation of your active medical benefits.

  • District paid medical benefits for the employee and spouse will terminate at the end of the month in which the employee reaches age 65.


Dental

Dental

  • Your District paid dental plan terminates at the end of the month in which you retire.

  • Both certificated and classified employees have the option of continuing their current dental coverage for 18 months through COBRA.

  • Certificated employees may continue their current dental coverage indefinitely at the AB528 rate.


Vision

Vision

  • Your District paid vision plan terminates at the end of the month in which you retire.

  • All employees have the option of continuing their current vision coverage for 18 months through COBRA.


Life insurance

Life Insurance

  • Your District paid life insurance plan terminates at the end of the month in which you retire.

  • All employees have the option of converting their life insurance to an individual policy purchased directly from Lincoln Financial.

    • The conversion plan is quite costly. If you are interested, please contact Lincoln Financial at 800-444-2363.


Medicare

Medicare

  • When an early retiree or spouse becomes entitled to Medicare, the District’s plan is secondary to Medicare whether or not the individual has enrolled in Medicare.

  • Therefore, it is extremely important to enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B as soon as you are entitled to do so.
