  1. impertinent • (adjective) irrelevant; not pertaining to something else • Sentence – When reading nonfiction, you must separate impertinent information from important information.

  2. inference • (noun) a conclusion based on facts • Sentence – It was a reasonable inference that the burner was on, since the pot of water was boiling.

  3. introspection • (noun) the examination of one’s own thoughts and feelings • Sentence – My stress causes me to take part in introspection because I think about what I’m feeling.

  4. jaunty • (adjective) having or showing a carefree self-confident air; happy • Sentence – The little girl was happy and showing her jaunty nature when she strolled down the street.

  5. jovial • (adjective) full of fun and good cheer; jolly • Example – When my family gets together every Christmas, everyone is jovial and happy.

  6. labyrinth • (noun) a maze of paths and passages • Sentence – The cornfield maze was a tricky and confusing labyrinth.

  7. laconic • (adjective) using few words; concise • Example: The young boy was afraid, so he gave a laconic reply to the police officer.
