Goal: Faculty time to develop scholarship Focus: Junior faculty/ faculty making major shifts in focus Funds: Average $5,000 + Varies by department and college Limits: One course, for one quarter per year Faculty Release Time (FRT) oregonstate.edu/research/incentive/frt.htm New Faculty Orientation

Goal: Seed funding / bridge funding multidisciplinary initiatives Focus: Young investigators, but open to all to open doors for new funding opportunities Funds: $10,000 maximum Limits: No extant RO start-up funding only once every 24 months General Research Fund (GRF) oregonstate.edu/research/incentive/grf.htm New Faculty Orientation

Goal:To acquire, modernize, repair or improve capital equipment Focus: Safety first, multi-user equipment generally not smaller items Limits: No desktop computers or software; Value must be >$7,500 Limitations on fabricated equipment Requires matching funds from home unit Research Equipment Reserve Fund (RERF) http://oregonstate.edu/research/incentive/rerf.htm New Faculty Orientation

Goal: Involve undergraduate students in the scholarly enterprise Focus: Student initiated, student written projects Limits: One academic year & one summer award per student Matching funds required for summer program Undergraduate Research, Innovation, Scholarship and Creativity (URISC) oregonstate.edu/research/incentive/urisc.htm New Faculty Orientation
