  3. Central access point to the INSPIRE infrastructure and resources (operated by the EC) “The face” of INSPIRE INSPIRE Geoportal • Connection to all MS network services • cross-border data discovery and visualisation • support to European policy making

Objective: fully functional access to all operational European INSPIRE network services Requirements: specific entry point to INSPIRE discovery and view services from MS User-friendly interface for easy finding and use of spatial data and services Modular, scalable and based on open standards Interfaces through open standards with additional services (registries, thesauries) COMPLIANT with INSPIRE Directive, Implementing Rules AND Technical Guidance documents Main challenges and requirements

One single interface for discovery and view services with all functionalities accessible from one page (view on the left, search-find on the right) Advanced search provided through filtering Basic gazetteer functionality(GeoNames web service) Automatic translation of MD textualfields (MicrosoftTranslator) Portal Operational Pilot(http://inspire-geoportal.ec.europa.eu)
