OBJECTIVES

Determine the purpose of DMS

Plan for implementation of DMS

at our school

Understand how DMS will look

in the classroom

- Increase student achievement and confidence in Math
- Student focus shifts to problem solving rather than basic facts
- More students exceed the AIMS

- EACH DAY FOR 20 MINUTES
- SCHOOL WIDE AT THE SAME TIME
- PRACTICE, ASSESS, CORRECT, RECORD
- STUDENTS MOVE ON TO THE NEXT PROBE ONCE CLASS MASTERY IS MET

- Probes
- Answer keys
- Student progress chart
- Coach cards for each teacher
- Flash cards for each class
- Timer for each class

- Teacher reads instructions from coach card
- Students practice in pairs with flashcards or with practice sets, depending on which skill is being covered; Focus is accuracy
(6 minutes)

- Students individually take probe; Focus is speed and accuracy (2 minutes)

- Students score papers (3 minutes)
- Students rework problems they missed (1 minute)
- Scores are recorded in weekly progress chart (2 minutes)

- DMS will be implemented one grade level at a time
- Training will be provided on Wednesday per team
- Implementation will begin the following week for each trained team
- Implementation schedule will be as follows: Third, Fourth, Fifth, Second, First, Kindergarten
