  2. ¿WHAT IS “+EUROPE FORUM”?(1/2) The “+EUROPE FORUM” is a Rotary Event organized jointly with other European civic entities. Its purpose is to strengthen the capacity which Rotary and other civic institutions have to stimulate the debates and provide the relevant documentation for the consolidation of a European Governance model which is fully accountable to its citizens.

  3. ¿WHAT IS “+EUROPE FORUM”? (2/2) • The Forum is conceived as an annual meeting centred on three basic areas: • European Governance: Networks toward direct democracy. • EU Financial Convergence: The Banking Union. • EU Fiscal Harmonization: Some Proposals.

  4. WHY THIS PROJECT NOW? (1/3) The objective is to reach new levels of democracy for European citizens by constructing a powerful governance model . Rotary clubs were founded all around Europe during the past century when countries acted more independently. The EU comprises 27 countries today, but many European Rotary Clubs still interact mainly at a local or national level. More can be done at a European level. The celebration of +Europe Forumisinspired of theFourthObjective of Rotary, whichis “topromoteunderstanding, goodwill, and peaceamongnations”.

  5. WHY THIS PROJECT NOW? AllEuropean Clubs are invitedtoparticipate, regardless of theircountry'smembership of the EU, as well as the Clubs of theMediterraneanbasin as observers. Last November ,a similar event the “Berlin Peace Forum”, took place and examinedthe role of Democracytopromotepeace and providetheopportunity for allcitizenstojoin in internationalcooperation. BothForumshighlightthe role of Rotary Inter-country Committeestopromoteunderstandingbetweennations.

WHY THIS PROJECT NOW? “+Europe Forum” is possible thanks to the support of the EU Delegation in Barcelona and the involvement of civil organizations such as: - The Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona - Círculo de Economía de Cataluña -Instituto de EstudiosFinancieros .IEF The European Rotary Clubs, will promote the “European Network of Civil Entities”.

FOUNDING MEMBERS The following Rotary Clubs are FoundingMembers (As of 12.12.12):           - RC Barcelona Diagonal           - RC Barcelona Europe           - RC Barcelona Centre           - RC El PratAllFounding Rotary Clubs makeanuniquecontribution of fivehundred Euros each, in + Europe ForumDistrict 2202 Account. European Clubs are invitedtobecomeFoundingmembers.

  8. ORGANIZATION Each year the Forum will be held in a different European city, as decided by the "+ Europe Forum Organizing Committee”. A group of Academic Experts will participate with the General Secretariat, in the preparation of the relevant documents to be submitted to the European Commission.

  9. TRACK I: EuropeanGovernance Josep Pique Doctor in Economics and a law degree from the University of Barcelona. In 1996, he was appointed Minister of Industry. He also held the positions of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Science and Technology. In 2007 he was appointed Chairman of Vueling. He is currently president of the Cercled´Economia. In 2009 created Pangea 21, International Consultant for emerging countries. Since 2012 is the representative of the State in the Board of European aerospace giant EADS.

Track II: FinancialConvergence • Emilio Ontiveros- Professor of Business Economics, Autonomous University of Madrid • - Founder in 1987 and Chairman of International Financial Analysts • - He was Fellow of the Real ColegioComplutense at Harvard University, and • member of the International Advanced Research in Economics as well as • Visiting Scholar at Wharton School - University of Pennsylvania. • Josep Soler • Certified International Investment Analyst. LSE • Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Barcelona- Degree in Economics from ESADE- Currently Managing Director of the Institut d 'Estudis Financers. IEF-Vice-Chairman of EFPA (European Financial Planning Association)-Former Director of The Barcelona Stock Exchange. • Former Auditor at the European Commission.

  12. Track III: TaxHarmonization Joan Francesc PontDoctor in Law (1990), Professor at the University of Barcelona since 1982, Professor of Tax Law at Univerisity School (1993) and the University of Barcelona (2003). Full Member of the Royal Academy of Economic and Financial Sciences (since 1999).

Ina-Stavroula, PIPERAKI BEPA (Bureau of European Policy Advisers) of the European Commission: representative of a NPO within the BEPA and member of a permanent working group in the subject of “Social Europe” (since 2009) and President of the working group of COMALACE (since 2011 ) Jean-Michel REYNAUD Director General of CERESI «Conseil et Expertise en Relations Economiques, Sociales et Internationales».Honorary Chairman of the Finance Section of the Economic and Social Council (Councillor from 2002 to 2010, President from 2004 to 2010).
