  2. Agenda • Grant RFP • Timeline • Requirements • Phase I • Phase II • Budget • Phase I • Phase II

  3. Selection Criteria for the Grant • Selection Criteria for Grant Applications • Five (5) selection criteria will be used to evaluate applications for funding. The relative weights for each criterion are indicated in parentheses. 1. Need for project (20 points) 2. Quality of Project Design (20 points) 3. Adequacy of resources (20 points) 4. Quality of the Management Plan (20 points) 5. Plan for Sustainability (20 points)

  4. Number of Schools • A maximum of 3 schools per LEA can apply for the grant with no more than 2 of them being in the same grade span.

  5. Questions • What universities will be involved with the teacher part of the grant? And where will the degrees come from? • The participants will be associated with one of four proposed regional anchor schools (East Carolina, North Carolina Central, UNC Charlotte and Appalachian State) for the core course work and those universities will be the degree granting universities. • The EdS will be from UNC Greensboro

  6. Questions • Will the teachers’ courses be blended? • Yes, most of it will be online, some face to face and mostly on Saturdays. This is the current plan

  7. Questions • If the principal has a doctorate, can the AP attend the EdS? • Yes but schools with principals applying will get first preference. The substitution for the principal has to be the Assistant Principal, Central Office Personnel can not be substituted here.

  8. Questions • When phase II money comes in does it have to be spent on just those four teachers and if so, what do we have to provide for them in their classroom? • This will be a decision for the schools and this plan should be reflected in your application.

  9. Questions • When will we have to take the GRE or MAT and how will that be paid for? • We will let you know as soon as possible after the grant awarding. Local funding can be used for the cost of the test only, then that funding can be reimbursed once the grant money is in place at the school.
