  2. What is DLESE? • A geoscience community project integrating the contributions of individuals, projects, institutions, and organizations into a resource supporting teaching and learning about the Earth

DLESE Vision • Rapid, sophisticated access to collections of peer-reviewed teaching and learning resources • Interfaces and tools to allow student exploration of Earth data sets • Services to help users effectively create and use materials • A community center to facilitate sharing and collaboration

Infusing Earth Knowledge and the Process of Discovery into Education • Research Experiences • For students, teachers, public • On site or at home • Professional Development Opportunities • For researchers and educators • New Learning Resources • With up-to-date content and pedagogy • Incorporating research on learning • In the classroom, on the web, at the museum

Information Streaming • An effective pipeline of useable information and resources reflecting state-of-the-art understanding of the Earth system from research to classroom and public • Includes both accessible data and the information, learning resources, and tools needed to enable effective interpretation by an interested lay person or student • Requires an integrated effort by all parts of the research, undergraduate, K-12, informal and science policy communities
