  2. Introduction • Regular Exercise is an important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle • Having a structured routine helps making it a regular activity • Phones are constantly reminding us of birthdays and other events, why not use a phone to encourage a user to do some exercise

  3. Introduction • Eating health is the other important factor of leading a heathly lifeslyle • It is not always clear how many calories our food contains • Phones can access huge databases online, why not use this to help users decide what to eat

  4. Introduction • Many foods contain substances that can cause allergic reactions • Often it is not obvious what ingedients are present in products • Elderly people often cannot read the ingredients because of a too small font

  5. Solution! • Healthy lifestile advising app. • Daily food suggestions • Alert messages encouraging exercise • Game to keep mind busy • Indoor step up activity • Weather based suggestions for exercises • Barcode scanner to prevent allergic substances to be ingested

  6. Layout • Simple user interface with tabbed layout and big buttons

  7. Initial Setup • Once of set up required (can be adjusted any time)

  8. Example of Calorie Monitoring • Graphs calories burned per hour over the day • User can see when they are most active • Shows distance walked based on users step stride

  9. Indoor step up counter • Graphs step up rate • Shows demonstration video • Can be reset • Easy to use

  10. Touch Game • Game to test reflexes • Highscore list • Slighlty addicting

  11. Barcode Scanner • The following products are currently in the online database for demonstration purposes: • Galaxy Carmel 48g • Tayto Cheese and Onion Chrisp 25g • Nature Valley Oasts and Honey • To show what happens when a product is not found Haribo StartMix is not in the database

  12. Weather • Can display today and tomorrows weather conditions for any location in the world • Makes decision based on current and future weather

  13. Designing Icons • GIMP Photo editor was used • Icons have two states – selected and unselected

  14. Food Recomendation • Downloads list of food and asscociated calories • User can click the food they want to eat • This will be added to daily calorie consumed count • Exercise recomendation based on food consumed

  15. Project Milestones • Identification of suitable exercises for older adults • Integration of accelerometer based algorithm to monitor exercise activity • Exercise performance tracking over time. Video demonstration of exercises • Integration of all system components in user friendly and attractive manner • System development to provide increased functionality for use by older adults

  16. Conclusion • This is a very usefull little app that has a lot of potential if large companies such as Tesco and Dunnes Stores provided their databases for the various food based alogythms in the app. • Future versions could integrate social networking where friends are infromed of other users activity to motivate them to go for a walk
