  1. Welcome to Back-to-School Night August 26, 2014 Mrs. Rosenblum’s Science and Math Class

My name is Mrs. Rosenblum and I am your child’s science teacher. • My goal is to see that your child grows academically and walks away with a basic understanding of Life Science, Physical Science, and/or Math. • I understand that every child’s needs are different and I will do my best to make the accommodations that are necessary for the success of your child. • My contacts are: drosenblum@cnusd.k12.ca.us or 736-4600

  3. Suggested Materials • Pencils (NO Mechanical pencils) • Ruler • Erasers • Washable markers • Colored pencils • Crayons • Highlighters (pink, green, blue, yellow) • White glue

  4. Homework • Any unfinished work that was not completed in class. Students will usually be given the assignment as class work, but if not completed during class time, then it is homework. • Missed class work due to absences are also homework. • Things to look for are the assignments that are written down in the planner. Most of those assignments will start out as class work, but will become homework.

  5. Homework cont. Types of assignments are: • Planners need to be signed or initialed by parent daily for your students to get credit. • Defining the Key Terms at the beginning of each section. • Writing the Key Questions and Answers • Standard Warm-Up • Section Outline

  6. Late Work and Low Scores • All late work will be accepted for full credit up until the end of the trimester. • Assignments with scores below 70% may be corrected for a higher grade. • Assignments that may not be corrected are true or false answers, multiple choice where there are only two possible answers, or assignments where I have given the answers.

  7. SNB (Science Note Book) Students most important tool They need to have it with them every day! Table of Contents Stamps/X’s IP/OP Please check the work!

  8. MNB (Math Note Book) They need to have it with them every day! Table of Contents Stamps/X’s IP/OP Used for Daily Skill Builder and Daily Math Warm-up, Vocabulary terms, Focus Questions, and Summaries.

  9. Grading System: • 100%-90% = A • 89%-80% = B • 79%-70% = C • 69%-60% = D • below 60% = F • Current grades will be sent home for parent signature each month so you will be better informed of your child’s progress. You will also have on-line access of your child’s grades. Please check them when you can so you can help them stay current with assignments.

  11. Extra Credit Since I let (encourage) students to turn in late work, I typically do not give extra credit work. However, the following items may be brought in and donated to the class and students will receive extra credit for that. Tape 409 Cleaner Kleenex Highlighters (blue, green, or pink only) Double sided tape
