  1. To Secure the Blessings of Liberty from

  2. Presentation Overview This PowerPoint is a summary of the ideas taught in the 50 minute presentation. Here is the length of the original PowerPoint: • Part I – 22 slides • Part II – 12 slides • Part III – 11 slides • Part IV – 11 slides • Part V – 11 slides

  3. Three Views Regarding America’s Founding • America was founded by Christians, purposefully established on Biblical Principles, and we must maintain our Christian heritage. • America’s founding was a product of the Enlightenment and was a secular undertaking, separating Church and State, and we must maintain that secular heritage. • America may have been founded on Christian principles, but times have changed and we need to be a secular country today to fully enjoy our liberties.

  4. Part I – The Way We Were

  5. This section recognizes the Christian beliefs that were practiced by our Founders and the biblical education that dominated our public schools and collegiate institutions. Patrick Henry passionately advocated that America was founded on the gospel of Jesus Christ, and this section illustrates that America was a uniquely Christian nation.

  6. Part II – The Way We Thought

  7. This section observes the ideological principles America was founded upon by taking an in depth look at the Declaration of Independence. We find that the philosophical foundation of America’s government was established on biblical principles and borrowed from Christian philosophers. The Founders adamantly believed and stated that men received their liberties from God, and government was created to secure those rights. America’s approach to government stemmed from principles elicited directly from the Word of God.

  8. Part III – The Idea Applied

  9. Based upon our Christian philosophies regarding government, this section demonstrates that the Bible itself was the highest law in the land. The Bible shaped the formation of our laws and our national spending, and all evidences display that America was dedicated to adhering to the Bible as its foundation. Rather than separating Church and State, the American Founders were dedicated to integrating the precepts of Christianity into civil government.

  10. Part IV – Does It Really Matter? Question: What is wrong with being a secular nation as long as we still have our freedom? Answer: In the short term, that may work fine. In the long run we will lose our freedom. Our founders strongly believed this.

  11. The American Founders vehemently proclaimed that the best security for our liberties was by adhering to the Christian religion America was founded upon. They declared that the American Constitution was adequate only for a religious and moral people. This section also acknowledges our Founders keen insight, as we observe recent laws and supreme court decisions that have infringed upon the liberties of Americans based upon America’s neglect of the Bible.

  12. Part V – Is There Hope for America? DRIFT

  13. The conclusion to the presentation acknowledges the institutional, educational, philosophical and judicial drift of America and offers a biblical solution to the problem. The resolution to the problem, as given in II Chronicles 7:14, lies within the people of God humbling themselves and imploring the aid of a sovereign and omnipotent God. America needs revival!
