  2. Definition of Project Management and Project Manager • Project Management is the application of knowledge, skills and techniques to execute projects effectively and efficiently. It’s a strategic competency for organizations, enabling them to tie project results to business goals — and thus, better compete in their markets. • Project Manager is the person assigned by the performing organization to lead and direct the team responsible for achieving the project objectives.  The project manager leads and directs a team through all five processes of a project; initiating, planning, executing, monitoring & controlling, and closing.
