Colds & Flu Prevention:Quick Tips for Residents 1.Wash your hands. 2.Cover sneezes and coughs with a tissue, or if no tissue, into your elbow or shoulder (or, turn away as you cough or sneeze!) 3.Don’t touch your face — the germs like all the openings there! 4.Drink plenty of fluids—you need 8 glasses of water every day. 5.Get fresh air. 6.Exercise regularly (aerobic is best) 7.Eat some yogurt. Researchers think the bacteria in yogurt may help stimulate your immune system. 8.Cut alcohol consumption. Alcohol dehydrates you — losing all that water your drank in #4! 9.Relax! It, too, stimulates the immune system.
