This project aims to improve postgraduate placements by measuring success against stakeholder priorities. It aims to enhance the economic performance of SMEs, foster collaboration with universities, retain postgraduates in the region, and develop postgraduate skills through experiential learning.

Background and project aims • To harness and further develop postgraduate placements to improve the economic performance of local SMEs. • To ensure the creation of sustainable models of collaboration between local SMEs and local universities. • To encourage greater retention of postgraduates in the region • Support postgraduate skills development through experiential learning

Postgraduate Stakeholders - Aims • Make an impact on the performance of an external organisation • Learn transferable skills and improve your CV • Enhance your employment prospects • Make professional contacts • Earn up to £2,000 • Gain experience of different workplaces and decide which career or employer is right for you • Placements (PPN) website: ppn.nottingham.ac.uk Pictured: Anna Cruse, an Art History PhD candidate, did a PPN placement and then used the project planning skills she picked up to successfully apply for an IRCA travel award to do summer research at Harvard university, USA.

  11. Host/Employer Stakeholders • Involved around 350individual SMEs in the region • All placements are project-based and in response to an identified business/organisational need • The majority (>80%) of hosts contribute at least 50% of the costs.
