  3. Galea (helmet) • Made of bronze with an iron trim • Shielded the neck • Protected the face Scutum (shield) • Curved to fit the body • Made of wood • Covered in leather • Had the shoulders name on it • Hung over the left shoulder

LoricaHamata (chain mail) • Great protection and flexibility • Very heavy • Took a long time to make LoricaSegmentata (plate armor) • Made of iron melted together • Flexible and strong • Best Roman armor they had LoricaeSquamatae (scale armor) • Replaced plate armor • Resembled a coat of feathers • Less flexible but easier to make

  6. Gladius(short sword) • Double edged • 18 inches long, 2 inches wide Pilum (javelin) • 7 feet long • Very light • Iron hardened point Pugio (roman dagger) • Could be decorated • Used as secondary weapon in case of being disarmed

  7. Spatha (long sword) • Main sword used in fighting • Allowed for more reach when fighting • Usually between 30 and 39 inches long
