Inertial Profiler in lieu of California Profilograph

  • California Profilograph utilizes a center wheel

  • Inertial Profiler utilizes an accelerometer and laser

  • Measures at highway speed

  • No lane closures required

  • Equipment and Operator certification performed by Texas Transportation Institute

  • In accordance with AASHTO PP 49-08

  • Local Calibration at the project

    • International Roughness Index (IRI) in lieu of Profile Index

    • Acceptance between 45.1 and 60 in/mi

  • Bump Acceptance Criteria

    • Localized Roughness in lieu of bump must grind

    • IRI of 140 in/mi within a 25 foot measurement
