  2. The Golden Lion Tamarin’s Habitat and Color • The Habitat that it lives in is the Swampy Coastal Rainforest in South- Eastern Brazil • Golden Lion Tamarins are bright orange

  3. The Golden Lion Tamarins Weight and Size • Adults male and female weigh 17 to 24 ounces. • It is also ½ pounds in weight. • There measure is 6 to 10 inches (15.2cm to 25.4cm.) not including the tail it measures 12 to 15 inches.

  4. What it Eats • They are omnivores, they feed on fruits, vegetation, insects and invertebrates. • They also feed on birds, eggs, small reptiles, nectars and exudates.

  5. The Golden Lion Tamarins Young and its Predators • The Golden Lion Tamarins young(offspring) is (usually twins) it takes 128 days for a baby to develop. There lifespan is 14 years. The father assists in the care of the young .The female has up to 3 babies. • The Predators of a Golden Lion Tamarin are Hawks, eagles ,and other raptors cats, weasels and large snakes are the chief natural predators. Some other predators are cats, and birds of prey

  6. WHY IT’S ENDANGEREDAND IT’S POPULATION • There are more than I,000 Golden Lion Tamarins in the Brazilian Rainforest. There were 200 of them in the wild. • The Golden Lion Tamarin is endangered because of the loss of the rainforest. It was also used for pet trade, zoo exibitats and in labrotories.

  7. How we are Protecting it now • We are protecting it now by doing captive breeding, restoring the habitat, and it’s illegal to sell and hunt to the pet trade.

  8. Other Golden Lion Tamarin Facts • Golden Lion Tamarins are in the same family as the marmosets. • They also have good hearing and a good sense of smell to help them navigate the forest. They also have silky reddish-gold coats with long backswept manes that cover up some parts of their body.
