Overcoming language and institutional barriers • Languages for All, optional credit bearing language modules, adherence to EUC obligation to provide language classes, staff visits • Institutional and departmental flexibility, full credit transfer, calendar flexibility, 4 year programmes with year abroad, ILUs, flexibility over learning outcomes, With the support of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union

Overcoming cultural capital inertia • Promote international dimension • Drive internationalisation of the curriculum, including European dimension • Internationalisation as component of ‘graduateness’/employability • Recognise/promote cultural capital • Language skills as a core competence • International engagement as a factor in staff promotion/career development With the support of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union

Overcoming information gap • Highlight international dimension and mobility in prospectus, on website • Promotion in schools • Erasmus for All at Open Days and in Departments • Engage Erasmus ‘Ambassadors’, returning mobile students, mentoring, events, raise staff awareness • Link to employability, placement opportunities With the support of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union

Overcoming financial barriers • Early information and planning • Accommodation swaps with exchange students (campus and private) • Promote paid work placements • Long term benefits of four year degrees • Sponsorship/bursaries • Fee waiver remains in place – costs abroad may be lower than UK With the support of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union
