Oct.3, 2011 Snowden’s Class News What We’re Learning: Assessments: Friday:Spelling Math (EOU) Reading – Summarizing using a Story Map Writing- Story leads, Combining Sentences (commas) Math- Measurement (feet, inches), Line Plots Science- Properties of Matter Social Studies- My Community Don’t forget!!! Early dismissal on Wednesday Oct.5th. Students will be dismissed at 10:40 am. Please make arrangements to have children picked up  Upcoming Dates 10/05 Early Dismissal (10:40) 10/11 Fair Day (No School) 10/17-10/21 Book Fair week 10/19 Report Cards 10/24-10/28 Red Ribbon Week 10/25 PTA 10/27 Parent Conferences 11/01 Parent Conferences Andrew Star of the Week: Reading Assessment This week and next we will be working on individual reading assessments. These assessments will help to identifystudents reading levels. It will also identify students that are on or below grade level in reading. I will use this data to create reading groups for guided instruction in specific strategies to help them grow into stronger readers. At parent conferences later in the month I will discuss with you your child’s reading level and any necessary interventions for both school and home. Happy Birthday Charlie Brown!
