  1. October 20, 2010 Agenda Writing Prompt How did/does the geography of the Seattle area affect our economy? Consider the types of jobs available in the past, and the types of jobs available now. Has geography become less or more important in determining our economy? • Writing Prompt/Greek geography • Two city-states, Sparta and Athens • Odysseus’ hometown

  2. Geography of Greece • Rocky, limited farmland • Located on the ocean • Good harbors • Mountains separate plains What will their economy be like?

Directions – Athens and Sparta • You will be assigned a partner, and that partnership will be assigned to a group • You and your partner will need to study one polis and determine how geography affected its government and social structure • You will then meet with the rest of your group to make comparisons between the two city-states.
