Hardware Parts of the computer that you can see and touch Memory: • RAM (randomaccessmemory) • ROM (readonlymemory) RAM: computer’s‘working memory’ • temporarily stores programs and data that are being used at a given time. • contents can be changed and are lost when the computer is turned off (‘volatile memory’) ROM • store program that runs when the computer is turned on which loads the operating system. • contents can’t be changed and aren’t lost when the computer is switched off (‘non-volatile memory’)
