First tests at MPI • Wire/pad version completed ~ July 03 • Star FTPC readout originally foreseen • Modified (Peter M.) for RO via Aleph preamp/shaper “by hand” • All voltages applied (P.M./V.E.)-> no problems at first • Laser beam set up -> tracks “seen” • …then continued… • Further testing end August (T.K./V.E./R.S.) • Contact problems with Starflex (FTPC) printed circuits • Crude (by hand, nontheless rather extensive) measurements gave • reasonable results, showing that chamber functions properly • Signal widths, drift velocities measured as function of voltages, gas • (p5, P10) using 1, then 2 laser beams Activities at KEK, IPN Orsay and MPI/DESY

Next steps… • Starflex flexible circuits removed • Replace by simple wires for pad<->preamp • 384 pads instrumentable • Connectors for Aleph preamps • Tested again by VE/RS end Jan.04->o.k. • Final tests end Feb -> send to Desy • Test for ~ 2 months -> send to KEK • (see next slide) Activities at KEK, IPN Orsay and MPI/DESY

March : Final test of TPC prototype at MPI by VE/RS • mainly to improve the laser entry/mirrors • 8. March - 9. March : Ship MPI TPC to Desy (along with other Aleph • TPC equipment which is at MPI) • 10. March - 18. April : Set up and test MPI TPC at Desy, also in 5T • magnet. Keisuke Fujii at Desy 18-21 March. • 12. April - 18. April : 5T magnet in Desy booked for our tests. • 19. April - 24. April : ship MPI TPC + electronics to KEK and attend • LCWS 2004 in Paris • 24. April -> end June : set up and test in beam/magnet at KEK Activities at KEK, IPN Orsay and MPI/DESY
