  5. Background • 2010 City of Toronto waste diversion for: • Single-family homes was 63% • Multi-family homes was 18% • Why - inconvenient • Further compounded by organics separation www.wastesolutions.ca

  9. Retrofitable • Can fit in almost any building • Most require minor modifications • Remove drywall drop ceiling • Relocate sprinkler pipe • Some more major • Remove block wall • Remove poured concrete wall www.wastesolutions.ca

  10. Space requirements • Ideally 110” floor to ceiling height • Can go as low as 92” • Horizontal measurements vary, for example • Centre or End feed, bins side by side • Corner feed, bins in L-pattern • Can reuse existing bins or new bins may be required www.wastesolutions.ca

  21. Cost • Installation can range from $15K to over $30K • The more floors, the higher the cost • Plus new bins if needed • Work by “others” - additional costs outside our scope – 110V disconnect, relocate pipes, walls, etc... • Maintenance www.wastesolutions.ca

Benefit • Decreased waste hauling costs - The best retrofits set out one 3-yard garbage bin and two to three recycling bins per 100 units each week • Reduced depreciation of common areas • Increased curb appeal – Eliminate unsightly bins, odours • Attract/retain environmentally friendly tenants • Warm fuzzy feeling www.wastesolutions.ca
