  1. Geometry Project Mrs. Choong’s class 9/3/10 By. Erica Syptak

  2. Compass - an instrument for determining directions, as by means of a freely rotating magnetized needle that indicates magnetic north.

  3. Midpoint- a point at or near the middle of, or equidistant from, both ends, as of a line: the midpoint of a boundary.

  4. Parallel- (of straight lines) lying in the same plane but never meeting no matter how far extended. (of planes) having common perpendiculars.

  5. Right Angle- the angle formed by two radii of a circle that are drawn to the extremities of an arc equal to one quarter of the circle; the angle formed by two perpendicular lines that intersect; an angle of 90°.

  6. Coplanar - being or operating in the same plane.

  7. Pythagorean Theorem - the theorem that the square of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

  8. Collinear - lying in the same straight line.

  9. Congruent - that two or more things are the exact same size and shape.

  10. Skew- Neither parallel nor intersecting. Used of straight lines in space.

  11. Perpendicular - an upright position

  12. Distance Formula - The distance d between the points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2)

  13. Acute Angle - An angle whose measure is between 0° and 90°

  14. Obtuse Angle - an angle greater than 90° but less than 180°.

  15. Protractor - an instrument having a graduated arc for plotting or measuring angles.

  16. Endpoint - the point on each side of an interval marking its extremity on that side.

  17. Non-Coplanar - that they do not belong to the same plane

  18. Non-Collinear - that they do not belong to the same line

  19. Line - a continuous extent of length

  20. Ray - one of a system of straight lines emanating from a point.

  21. Angle - the space within two lines or three or more planes diverging from a common point, or within two planes diverging from a common line.

  22. Length of a segment - A straight line which links two points without extending beyond them.
