  3. Georgia Performance Standards S2L1. Students will investigate the life cycles of different living organisms. a. Determine the sequence of the life cycle of common animals in your area: a mammal such as a cat or dog or classroom pet, a bird such as a chicken, an amphibian such as a frog, and an insect such as a butterfly.

  4. Introduction • How old are you? Have you always been 7 years old? Do you think that I have always been an adult? Well how did we get to the stages we are now? • Do you think insects lifecycle follows the same pattern as humans lifecycle? Which insect is the favorite of most people? Hint: Most of you pick these insects up and play with them during recess time. • You are correct. Ladybugs are liked by a lot of people. • Let’s get started learning about these special creatures with the book, Are You A Ladybug? The book is written by Judy Allen and Illustrated by Tudor Humphries. • Let’s take a stroll through the wonderful world of ladybugs!!!

  6. The Task This Webquest is designed to help you investigate the life of ladybugs. You will learn that there are several types of ladybugs, what they eat, how helpful they are to humans, and the stages of their life cycle.

Partners will… • click on student drive, click on folder labeled Ms. Becca, then click on Folder titled Webquest, and then click on Ladybugs in order to the enter this magical world • Test your knowledge of ladybugs. • To learn about each stage of the ladybug click on the stages in order, left to right. • View the video. • Print and complete the life cycle of a ladybug. • Partner discussion of what was learned. • Presentation

Lesson concludes with an eatable treat Ladybug Cookies Ingredients 1 sugar cookie Red frosting Mini M & M Licorice 1 black jelly bean Supplies Small paper plate Plastic knife Directions • Completely coat the entire cookie with frosting to create the ladybug body. • The mini M & M’s to make the spots on the ladybugs. • Cut the licorice and create legs and antennae. • The jelly bean will make the head. We will discuss what we have learned in an open forum as we enjoy our special treat.
