Understanding the Truth Table for the Conditional Statement p: You get an A. q: I buy you a car pq: If you get an A, I will buy you a car • Only if p is true and q is false is the “promise” of the conditional broken. You got an A, but I did not buy you a car. This makes the conditional FALSE • All other cases result in a TRUE conditional statement.
