  2. New Deal programs • Civilian Conservation Corps employed young adults. • Civil Works Administration provided temporary jobs. • Public Works Administration employed skilled workers. • US. Bank Holiday closed banks temporarily. • Agricultural Adjustment Act farmers not growing. • Works Progress Administration created useful jobs. • Etc…

  3. Civilian Conservation Corps • It was created March 31, 1933. • The CCC constructing buildings and trails. • Also Installed telephone and power lines. • They constructed logging and fire roads. • They helped with the erosion control. • In addition they helped plan trees.

  4. Civil Works Administration • Rooseveltunveiled on November 8, 1933. • Harry L. Hopkins was in charge. • Replaced by Federal Emergency Relief Act • Was created by the New Deal. • It was created to make jobs. • The jobs were to be temporary.

  5. Public Works Administration • It was created June 16, 1933. • Created by National Industrial Recovery Act. • This program constructed many great things. • Not as many houses as hoped. • Constructions include airports and aircraft carriers. • Also electricity-generating dams and bridges.

  6. US. Bank Holiday • This program took place in 1933. • From march fifth through thirteenth. • Roosevelt closed banks for that time. • Kept the depositors from bankrupting banks. • By taking all their money out. • This program tried fixing bank problems.

  7. Agricultural Adjustment Act • They paid farmers not to grow. • Also paid for leaving land idle. • The purpose was to reduce surplus. • Then eventually raising values of crops. • This gives farmers relative stability again. • This act created Agricultural Adjustment Administration.

  8. Works Progress Administration • It was created on May 6, 1935. • Was the largest New Deal agency. • Harry L. Hopkins was the leader. • It provided jobs to the unemployed. • It employed workers in construction projects. • Roosevelt discontinued on December 4, 1943.

  9. Tennessee Valley Authority • Roosevelt signed it May 18, 1933. • Generates electric power and control floods. • The headquarters lies in Knoxville, Tennessee. • Their main source is hydroelectric power. • Gave rise to PUHCA of 1935. • Provided a majority of total energy.

  10. Federal Emergency Relief Administration • They provided breadlines and other aid. • One the first operations by Roosevelt. • The chairman was given to Hopkins. • Provided work for 30 million people. • Main goal was alleviating adult unemployment. • To accomplish they provided state assistance.

  11. Indian Reorganization Act • This act was started in 1934. • It was aka Wheeler-Howard Act. • It secured new for Native Americans. • It restored management of their assets. • Returned self-government on a tribal basis. • Eliminated by the NATCA of 2003.
