  2. Paul Revere1735-1818 • Paul Revere lived in Boston, Massachusetts and lived when Great Briton ruled the 13 colonies • Paul Revere warned the people that the British were coming • He had to stop the war

  3. Frederick Douglass1818-1895 • Fredrick Douglass was a slave • He taught himself how to read and escaped by dressing up as a sailor on a train • He wrote about his life and called his paper the North Star • He was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1818

  4. Fought for women's suffrage Susan B. Anthony1820-1906 Anti slavery club Was a teacher Gave speeches all over the U.S.A Didn’t pay Got fired for complaining Quaker Church boys and girls are equal Voted and got arrested

Cesar Chavez • He was born in Yuma, Arizona in 1927 • Moved from farm to farm • Worked as a Migrant worker when young • Loved learning • Got punished for speaking Spanish • Went to over 30 schools • Graduated eighth grade when he was 15 • Joined the navy when 17 • Got job in CSO (Community Service Organization) • He had DILIGENCE,JUSTICE,and FREEDOM of EXPRESSION

  6. My favorite person • My favorite person is Cesar Chavez because he worked very hard to end migrant working for 5 years and went through hard times and didn’t give up

  7. Lyndon B. Johnson • Born in Stone wall Texas • He was poor • Dad was senator • Fought poverty • Became vice president then president • Made a free school for the poor • Made the Great Society for African American • Made a library to remember him

  8. Franklin D. Roosevelt • Longest president • Wealthy when growing up • Lot of pets • Grew up with no brothers or sisters • Very helpful • He had polio • Became president • Went to boarding school • Built schools,libraries,brigdes,roads,dams,and airports

  9. Eleanor Roosevelt • Wealthy growing up • Very quiet and shy • Loved school • Loved reading to kids • Got married • Told speeches around the world • Franklin’s eyes and ears • Got a stamp of her • Worked in furniture making buisness

Mary McLeod Bethune • Did not have slavery but parents did • Lived in a cabin • Could not read • Went to school • Didn’t know how to be fancy • Was a missionary • Was poor so used wood instead of brick • Was born in South Carolina • Made class and sang to jail • Gave people jobs • Was determined to help African Americans

Thurgood Marshall • Born in Baltimore, Maryland • Child during segregation • Memorized the whole constitution • Went to Lincoln university • Ended unjust laws • Used the law a lot • Was a member of the NAACR • It was against the law for segregation on May 17,1954 • Fought for civil rights for most of his life • He had justice, freedom of conscience and expression, and respect for and acceptance of authority
