  1. Who Is God?Lesson Eight: All-Powerful, All-Knowing, and Unlimited in Nature

  2. Each one of us is but a speck compared to the Great and Awesome God!

  3. There is no one else like God! Isaiah 46:9 (NASB)"Remember the former things long past, for I am God, and there is no other; I amGod, and there is no one like Me.

  4. Psalms 99:1-3 (NASB) 1 The Lord reigns, let the peoples tremble; He is enthroned above the cherubim, let the earth shake! 2The Lord is great in Zion, and He is exalted above all the peoples. 3Let them praise Thy great and awesome name; Holy is He.

  5. Three Awesome Attributes of God! • Omnipotent (all-powerful). • Omniscient (all-knowing). • Omnipresent (unlimited in nature – able to be everywhere at all times).

  6. Essential to our faithfulness is our knowledge of the awesome God!

  7. Behold the Almighty! • God is all powerful.

  8. Revelation 19:6 (NASB) And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude and as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty (Omnipotent – NKJV), reigns.”

  9. Jeremiah 32:17 (NASB) 'Ah Lord God ! Behold, Thou hast made the heavens and the earth by Thy great power and by Thine outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for Thee.

  10. Isaiah 40:28 (NASB) Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord , the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable.

  11. Behold the Almighty! • God is all powerful. • God’s power surpasses every nation, tribe, tongue, and people.

  12. Isaiah 40:15-17 (NASB) 5 Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are regarded as a speck of dust on the scales; Behold, He lifts up the islands like fine dust. 16 Even Lebanon is not enough to burn, nor its beasts enough for a burnt offering. 17 All the nations are as nothing before Him, they are regarded by Him as less than nothing and meaningless.

  13. Isaiah 40:22 (NASB) It is He who sits above the vault of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

  14. Behold the Almighty! • God is all powerful. • God’s power surpasses every nation, tribe, tongue, and people. • God has demonstrated throughout history that He is indeed all-powerful (e.g. the Creation, miracles).

  15. Everyone will witness God’s almighty power on Judgment Day. 2 Peter 3:10 (NASB) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

  16. Behold the All Knowing God! • God knows all things (universal knowledge)

  17. God’s ability to know all things is connected with His omnipresence: Jeremiah 16:17 (NASB)For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity concealed from My eyes.

  18. No one can add to God’s knowledge: Isaiah 40:13-14 (NASB)13 Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, or as His counselor has informed Him? 14 With whom did He consult and who gave Him understanding? And who taught Him in the path of justice and taught Him knowledge, and informed Him of the way of understanding?

  19. God’s knowledge includes foreknowledge of future events (e.g. Rom. 8:28-29; 1 Pet. 1:1-2).

  20. His knowledge has no bounds, it is infinite! Romans 11:33 (NKJV) Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable areHis judgments and His ways past finding out!

  21. Behold the All Knowing God! • God knows all things (universal knowledge) • God knows everything about us.

  22. Jeremiah 17:10 (NASB) “I, the Lord , search the heart, I test the mind, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds.”

  23. John 2:24-25 (NASB) 24 But Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men, 25 and because He did not need anyone to bear witness concerning man for He Himself knew what was in man.

  24. Psalms 44:20-21 (NKJV) 20 If we had forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a foreign god, 21 Would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

  25. Behold the Unlimited Nature of God! • God is “omnipresent.”

  26. God is eternal and therefore unlimited in nature: Psalms 90:2 (NASB)Before the mountains were born, or Thou didst give birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God.

  27. God “inhabits eternity” (Isaiah 57:15) • Eternity is timeless having no limits in space. • God created time and space and therefore God surpasses time and space, free from all its laws and limitations.

  28. God’s infinite presence does not mean that everything is God, the universe is God, or that every single thing is part of God (beware of pantheism!).

  29. Nor should we conclude that God’s form or substance is always and forever extending to all places everywhere like one giant blob surrounding the universe!

  30. Instead, God’s omnipresence is about His ability to be everywhere at all timesas He so chooses; a power that uses continually.

  31. Jeremiah 23:23-24 (NASB) 23 "Am I a God who is near," declares the Lord, "And not a God far off? 24 "Can a man hide himself in hiding places, so I do not see him?" declares the Lord . "Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?" declares the Lord .

  32. God’s presence is limitless, boundless, unrestricted, and cannot be confined. 1 Kings 8:27 (NASB) “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain Thee, how much less this house which I have built!”

  33. Behold the Unlimited Nature of God! • God is “omnipresent.” • God’s ability to see all things is proof of His omnipresence.

  34. Hebrews 4:13 (NASB) And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

  35. Everyone is Subject to the Great and Awesome God! • There is nothing about your life that God does not know.

  36. Psalms 139:1-4 (NASB) 1 O Lord , Thou hast searched me and known me. 2 Thou dost know when I sit down and when I rise up; Thou dost understand my thought from afar. 3 Thou dost scrutinize (comprehend) my path and my lying down, and art intimately acquainted with all my ways. 4 Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O Lord , Thou dost know it all.

  37. Psalms 139:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Thou hast enclosed me behind and before, and laid Thy hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain to it. *God knows us and cares about us!

  38. Everyone is Subject to the Great and Awesome God! • There is nothing about your life that God does not know. • There is nowhere you can hide from the presence of God.

  39. Psalms 139:7-8 (NASB) 7 Where can I go from Thy Spirit? Or where can I flee from Thy presence? 8 If I ascend to heaven, Thou art there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, Thou art there.

  40. Things done in secret are not secret to God: Ecclesiastes 12:14 (NKJV)For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

  41. God’s omnipresence is real!

  42. Proverbs 15:3 (NKJV) The eyes of the Lord arein every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.

  43. Job 34:21 (NKJV) "For His eyes areon the ways of man, and He sees all his steps.

  44. God’s omnipresence is a good thing! • For those who walk by faith this is a great assurance! (Rom. 8:38-39; Heb. 13:5; Isa. 43:1-2). Wherever we may be, God is there!

  45. Everyone is Subject to the Great and Awesome God! • There is nothing about your life that God does not know. • There is nowhere you can hide from the presence of God. • The Almighty created us; we need His power for true strength in life.

  46. Psalms 139:13-14 (NASB) 13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well…

  47. Psalms 139:15-16 (NASB) 15 My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.

  48. God is the all-powerful Lord who has created us and sustains us by His powerful Word (Gen 1:1; John 1:1; Heb 1:3; Rev 4:11).

  49. Are you weary and heavy laden, weighed down by the cares of this world? • You can instead soar like an eagle when the all-powerful God is your hope and strength!

  50. Isaiah 40:29-30 (NASB) 29 He gives strength to the weary, and to him wholacks might He increases power. 30 Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly,
