Functionality to be Added in 2010 • Ideally here’s the plan… • 2.3 – Integrate NPSpecies with Match Lists • To be released in next month • 2.4 - Integrate NPSpecies with New Evidence Applications • Voucher, Observation, and Reference • May post-pone functionality until after 3.0 • 3.0 – Retire science1.nature NPSpecies • Need your input • You will be given a handout at the end of this session with a list functionality to be built for you to prioritize to help us determine the next few releases

Procedural Changes for Naturebib Retirement • Editing using NPSpecies MS Access Desktop • Uploading NPSpecies MS Access Desktop • Updated submission forms for upload requests • Science1.nature NPSpecies 1.0 Changes • Naturebib available to NPSpp in read-only mode • Reports with Bib data will work • Editing References via NPSpp will be disabled

Editing Using NPSpecies MS Access Desktop • Desktop Data Entry for References • To Add Scientific Name Links to Existing Naturebib records • Use desktop application to add or remove scientific name links to existing references in Nature bib • To Edit an Existing Reference in Naturebib • Preferable if edits occur in the Reference application • Ok to make edits to Title, Author, and Year Pub in Desktop • To Add New References not in Naturebib • Add new references into the Reference application

Uploading NPSpecies MS Access Desktop • Complete Replacement, Complete Replacement by Taxonomic Category, and Append New References • What you can do via desktop NPSpecies: • Edit Scientific Name Links to Existing Naturebib records • Use desktop application to add or remove scientific name links to existing references in Nature bib • Limited Editing of Existing Reference in Naturebib (Title, author, and year pub.) • Make modifications in the desktop NPSpecies • Let us know the BibkeyID’s of the records you modified on the submission form • What you cannot do via desktop NPSpecies: • Add a New Reference not in Naturebib • Add that new reference into the Reference application • Wait to add scientific name links when functionality is available
