  1. MOODLE: The Concept Map • REMINDER: Your group’s Mini- Concept Mapis due on October 1, 2012 by 11:59 PM! • Mini-Concept Map Guidelines: • Group’s Images Linked together. • Must be 5 images. • We STRONGLY DISCOURAGE pictures that include many different images, such as:

  2. Mini-Concept Map Assignment is worth 2 pts. The assignment can be found under the “social activities” tab. Only one submission per group. Must be made using “VUE” software. If you do not submit a Mini-Concept Map, you will not be allowed to submit a Final Concept Map (25 images).

MOODLE: The Image Project • Once you have all 40 images from the class, your group will build a visual concept map connecting all 25 images. • Go to www.vue.tufts.edu to download the Concept Map Tool which you will be using to organize the images. • You can find a link to this website on MOODLE: “VUE Website” under the Social Activities Tab.

  4. MOODLE: The Image Project • Concept Map is worth 7 points with 5 extra credit points available!!!! • It is due October 12th, 2012 no later than 11:59 PM! • 1 concept map per group, 25 images each!!!!

  8. Instructions This is what you will see when you first open Vue. To add a picture, open your web browser, go to your image’s link (URL). You can format the color, font and shape of your boxes (nodes) using the Formatting Palette found in the Windows Tab.

  9. Adding Images to VUE Drag the link down to the toolbar, to “VUE: New Map”

  10. Instructions Once you drop the link into VUE, the picture will show up on your Map. You can repeat this until you have added all the pictures. To connect the images, you can use the “Link Tool”. This is a “NODE” • To create a link between two nodes click on the first node and • drag your mouse to the second node. Once a successful link • has been created the second node will glow green. • Then you can release the mouse. • You can then write on the link to describe the connection • between the two images. • All nodes must be labeled clearly and correctly identify the image content. “Link Tool”

  13. SAVE YOUR WORK! • Go to File>Save As. • Name your file as follows: Group Number_Concept Map_Draft. From the format dropdown menu select VPK (VUE Package). Click Save. (NOTE: If you select VUE your images will not be visible on any other computer. If you select any other file type your concept map will not be able to be edited by others.) • Save images as a VPK and as a Jpeg file.

  15. Uploading Concept Map to MOODLE There will be a link under “Social Activities Tab” where you will upload the final concept map. You will upload both versions (.vpk and .jpg) onto Moodle. (We will show you how and where next week.) If you have any questions, you may view this presentation at your leisure on Moodle.

  16. Participation Each group member will be required to report his or her own contribution to the final map, as well as to comment on the performance of other group members. This will be done via a survey on Moodle. THE SURVEY RESULTS MAY BE USED TO “ADJUST” MAP GRADES.

  17. DO NOT LEAVE THIS FOR THE DAY BEFORE IT IS DUE…. It will take some time to get used to the VUE tools! Remember the CONCEPT MAP is worth 7 POINTS!
