  5. Graph the line y= ¼x – 5by graphing y-intercept and slope y-intercept is -5 Slope is ¼

  6. Find the x and y intercepts and graph 2x + y = 5 • Plug in 0 for x • 2(0) + y = 5 • y = 5 • (0,5) This is the y intercept • Plug in 0 for y • 2x + 0 = 5 • x= 2½ • (2½,0)This is the x intercept

  7. Graph y + 3 = 0 Equation can be rewritten as y = -3 Put a point on the y-axis at -3. Plot any other point with a y-value of -3. (-3,-3) is the easiest.

  8. Graph x = 4 Put a point on the x-axis at the 4. Plot any other point (4,4) with an x-value of 4.

  10. Writing equation of a line • Need two things: • Slope • Y – intercept • Then plug them into y = mx + b Slope = -4 Y – int: (0,-5)

  11. Write the equation of the line with slope m = 2, through the point (1,-1) y = mx + b y = 2x + b -1 = 2(1) + b -1 = 2 + b -3 = b y = 2x – 3
