Creative Writing • Student voices come alive as they explore different genres of writing such as poetry, short stories, memoirs and even drama. • Students read and analyze creative writing by various authors, develop a rich vocabulary and create a portfolio of their own personal writing. • Students are submitting work to sources outside of campus.

  5. Culinary Arts • This course is designed to help students • discover the joy in preparing, presenting, • and consuming quality dishes. Nutritional • values are also discussed throughout the course. • They explore foods from other cultures to discover • cultural differences, traditions, and customs.

  6. Garden Work!

  7. Digital Photography • Using the powerful software, Adobe Photoshop CS3, students learn to manipulate and enhance their own photographs. Basics such as the crop, clone and lasso tools allow students to create new photos, while filters such as spherize, pinch and liquify invite the bizarre and the amusing. • A favorite project is "Create A New Student." Here, student photographs layer different features of three or more classmates, creating a new one.   10. Drama Class • The drama enrichment class learns and practices techniques used in theater. • The drama students are responsible for the morning announcements. Lessons during the beginning of the semester focus on improving their public speaking skills. • Students  are  introduced to all aspects of theatre, including directing, stage management, sound and light design, costumes and receive a guided tour of our VCS auditorium. • The class covers a brief history of theatre and provides students with opportunities to perform many genres of theatre.

  13. Fitness/Nutrition • The focus of this class is to learn the • importance of exercise and healthy eating • habits. Students learn how to include • exercise into their daily routines and learn • the effects of quality nutrition.

  14. Running, walking, the stationary bike, the elliptical machine, and a weight room workout are just a few of the different exercises used.

  16. THE Daily Blue Devil: • STUDENT NEWSPAPER • Wanted: Famous Journalists of the future! • Victor Junior High’s Newspaper enrichment class offers students an exciting opportunity to become published writers.

  17. Victor’s Daily Blue Devil covers the nation’s top stories and JH news to include sports, entertainment and an advice column. Student reporters brainstorm ideas, conduct research, and write articles sure to grab the reader’s attention! Daily Blue Devil staffers go one step further by encouraging classmates to contribute original writing pieces and cartoons.

  18. Stock Market • Students have the opportunity to participate in • a trading simulation. Research is conducted on websites along with the Democrat and Chronicle. • Students buy and sell stocks using virtual money. • They compete with other schools in the region.
