  2. Construction under way Gateshead's town centre has become a building site as work on the accommodation begins.

  3. Flats The largest of the new buildings will be home to around 700 of the 1000 new student rooms.

  4. Far Far Away Gateshead’s main shopping street with city hall in the distance.

  5. Outer layer The student amenities are begin to take shape after several months of planning.

  6. Bus route Local busses are now having to make a slight D-tour round the construction site causing a lot of traffic problems.

  7. Too far to travel? The distance from the new accommodation to Northumbria University (which can be seen on the skyline in the centre of the photo)

  8. Mammoth project The construction site mirrors the whole of Gateshead’s shopping street which sows the monumental scale of the regeneration scheme.

  9. Message to the people Gateshead council vow to make the town centre more attractive to the public, but will the students living in the area have everything they need?

  10. Bus stop Busses regularly drive into Newcastle but with the cost of travel so high, it may be hard for students to pay for busses or the metro.

  11. Modern shopping This long stretch shows the outer shell of the ‘modern shops’ that will be introduced to Gateshead. Hopefully creating many jobs for students.
