  2. Timetable • Started the project in Oct. 2003 • Involved six staff members • Utilized USPS.com, ESRI’s BusinessMap 3.5, and Yahoo Yellow pages to ensure accuracy • Completed the project in April 2004 • Continuing error report review to keep data integrity

  3. Step by Step • Identified regions that did not have a club assigned (i.e. Alaska, Guam) • Created 48 new “clubs” (24 geo clubs with matching dual clubs) based on state to change the “unknown” group to a known status

  4. Step by Step continued • Located zip codes which were coded in more than one geo clubs • Reassigned the zips to the proper club • Gathered zip code ranges from USPS zip code books for those clubs that are statewide • Downloaded constituent data to verify addresses and zip codes, corrected as needed • Recoded SOAGEOR based on constituent addresses and zip ranges

  5. Step by Step continued • Coordinated with the Alumni Association to reorganize the nine states that have multiple geo clubs • NJ became three clubs instead of the original seven • Reassigned clubs in PA based on county, and later combined three clubs into one because of regional overlap • Met with the major gift officer for FL to properly distribute clubs around major cities, added two clubs
