  2. What is CAT Exam? CAT (Common Admission Test) is the centralized entrance examination for admission to various postgraduate management courses offered by IIMs. In addition, several leading management institutions and institutions of higher learning also accept the CAT score for admission to their respective management programs. http://iimcat2018.in/

  3. Who conducts CAT Exam? Every year, one of the IIMs organizes the CAT for admission to the MBA and PGDM programs by business schools in India. CAT 2018 will be conducted by IIM Calcutta on November 25 in online mode under the supervision of Prof. SumantaBasu, the organizer of the exam this year. http://iimcat2018.in/

CAT 2018: Eligibility Criteria Educational qualifications A candidate holding one of the following educational qualifications is eligible to sit for the exam: (a) Possess a bachelor's degree with at least 50% points or an equivalent CAG [45% for candidates in the following categories: Scheduled Caste (SC), Registered Tribe (ST) and Person with Disability (PWD)] or an educational institution incorporated by an Act of Parliament or the State Legislature in India or declared to be a university under section 3 of the 1956 UGC Act or having an equivalent qualification recognized by the Department of Resources human. (b) Have an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of Human Resources, the Government of India (including the Associate Entrance Examination (AMICE) of the Institution of Civil Engineers (India) as equivalent qualification). The percentage obtained at the baccalaureate level would be calculated according to the practice followed by the university or institution concerned. In the case of grades or MBM, the conversion would be based on the process defined by the university or institution concerned. The candidate's MBM will be divided by the maximum possible MBM and multiply the result by 100 in the absence of a percentage conversion plan. Candidates applying for the final year of the baccalaureate or equivalent qualification are also eligible for the CAT exam. 2. Age There is no age requirement for taking the CAT exam if the other criteria are met. In accordance with legal requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates. 27% of the places are reserved for the other candidate backward classes belonging to the "non-creamy" layer (NC-OBC). http://iimcat2018.in/

  6. CAT 2018: Application and Registration When and How to Apply for CAT 2018 Registration and application process for CAT 2018 will be conducted online. The online registration for CAT 2018 will open in the first week of August. Exact dates will be updated as notification is released. http://iimcat2018.in/ CAT Fee and Payment The fee for registration for the exam is Rs. 900 for SC, ST and PwD category candidates and Rs. 1800 for all other categories of candidates. The payment is to be made in online mode. You can pay the CAT exam fee during online registration. Use a valid credit card, debit card, or net-banking facility.

  7. Documents Required for CAT Registration • Mark sheets of Class X, Class XII, Bachelor’s Degree and or higher educationScanned images of passport size photograph and signatures. (not older than 6 months prior and with white background) • If you have chosen NC-OBC or SC or ST as the category, then you need to upload the relevant certificate. • If you are a PwD category applicant, then you need to upload the relevant PwD certificate. • Candidates must declare and maintain the following throughout the selection process: • – Valid and unique Email ID and a mobile phone number • – CAT User ID (provided to you via email after completion of your online registration) http://iimcat2018.in/

  8. Step by Step Application Guide • Candidates need to register first at the official website in order to generate the login credentials. CAT 2018 registration, you need to perform the following steps. • Go to the official website and click on ‘Register Now’ • Enter the asked details including personal details like Name, Date of Birth, Email Address, Mobile Number in the fields provided. • Verification: The CAT Serial Number or USER ID will be sent to the email address provided by the candidates and the password will be sent through SMS to the registered mobile number. • Next login and complete the application process which broadly involves filling in personal and academic details (with upload of relevant documents) and information about professional experience. This is followed by selection of courses being applied for (it would be useful to have this written down) and the exam/interview centre. http://iimcat2018.in/

  9. CAT 2018: Exam Pattern and Syllabus Mode of Exam CAT is not an online exam. It is a digital or Computer Based Test (CBT); not an Internet-Based Test (IBT); that is, a candidate will not take the exam on an internet site. Instead of reading the questions in a paper booklet and darkening the ovals on the answer-sheet, a candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option. Exam Pattern for CAT 2018 http://iimcat2018.in/ The CAT Exam is divided into 3 sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability. Each section is given 60 minutes, so the exam duration is totally of 3 hours.

Important Points about CAT Exam Structure and Marking Scheme • Candidates are not allowed to move between one section to other during the 1 hour assigned to the particular section. • CAT Test takers cannot leave their seats during the exam. • MCQs in CAT 2018 exam pattern will need you to pick out 1 correct answer choice out of 4. • Non-MCQs in CAT exam pattern will require you to type-in the correct answer on the computer screen. • There may not be any answer choices for Non-MCQs in revised pattern of CAT 2018. • Each correct answer in CAT exam pattern will be awarded 3 marks whether it  is MCQ or Non • -MCQEach wrong answer for MCQ in CAT exam 2018 will be imposed penalty of 1/3 negative mark (-1 mark). • There will be no penalty of negative marking on wrong answers to Non-MCQs in CAT 2018 exam pattern. • CAT exam pattern remains on the lines of CAT official Mock test released by IIMs a month before the CAT exam. • Calculators are prohibited. http://iimcat2018.in/

  11. Exam Syllabus for CAT 2018 • The CAT exam does not have a defined syllabus for CAT preparation. However, you can attempt the mock test to understand the pattern of exam and types of questions.
