  2. So, what are we looking to accomplish? Build public awareness of DAV’s mission, and veterans issues Educate veterans about our services, the support system of our chapters, and various other resources Notify our members of news and events within department

  3. How are we going about it? -Magazine -www.davcal.org -Social Media Platforms -Facebook -Twitter -Instagram New!

  4. So, how can you communicate? • Keep in touch with Department • Websites/Drag & Drop • Facebook • Twitter • Instagram • Think out of the box, and feel free to contact us. We are here to help!

  5. Some things to keep in mind… -Every post and tweet is a press release and represents DAV - Language Guide - Manners - Nonpartisan - Haters Gonna Hate -Provide your followers with resources, information, or entertainment -Always be clear and concise

  6. More things to keep in mind… -Everyone loves a good visual -Don’t underestimate the value of Googling -If you have interest in communicating with the news media, contact National for a Publicity Guide -Update often, but not excessively

  7. And a couple more… -Highlight your chapter’s community involvement and get the community involved -Engage in “trending” topics when possible -Use anniversaries, milestones, holidays and awareness days as opportunities -Remember your mission, and the importance of your message!
