  4. Current Kansas Plan • Continue partnership with Medicaid • Report quarterly data on reassignments, donations, and track costs of the program • Monitor six subcontractors performance quarterly • Aggressive promotion of the reuse program and benefits to all Kansans

  5. New Elements to be Analyzed • Collect data to share with potential business partners • Incorporate accepted business practices in data collection – return on investment practices • Implement practices to increase the cost efficacy of the program • Increase inventory and reassignment of high cost items • Collect data on high cost items, particularly bariatric equipment • Identify most common payers and attempt to develop partnerships

  6. New elements to be Analyzed • Implement cost-saving practices • Maintain equipment in the inventory no longer than 90 days • Analyze all expenses – transportation, U-Hauls, bi-weekly runs • Analyze cost of moving equipment across regions • Analyze cost related to using volunteers

  7. Additional Strategies • Work with manufacturers to adopt reuse as a major plank in their recycling plan • Planned response to electronic waste legislation • Stretch existing dollars • Business credit cards • Match funds whenever possible – think it over before you become the recipient • Keep your eyes open, be flexible, look for opportunities
