  1. A New Opportunity for capitalizing on a Smart GEO-ecosystem Michele Manunta and FrancescoCasu IREA – Institutefor ElectromagneticSensing of Environment CNR – National ResearchCouncil of Italy Naples

  2. CNR - IREA • Research Institute with long time expertise on SAR Interferometry: inventor of the SBAS-InSARalgorithm • Center of Competence for Italian Department of Civil Protection for InSAR • Involved in Geohazard Supersites since the early stage • Member of MARSite and MED-SUV consortia

  3. Supersites: Today Scenario Data Data requests Users Players with fixed roles Move data to processors Results Software / Tools

  4. Supersites: Today Scenario Research Data Data requests Users Universities Players with fixed roles Move data to processors Results Software / Tools

  5. The User Community: GeohazardSupersites Support GEO to better understand the geophysical processes causing Geohazards(earthquakes and volcanoes) • Global partnership of scientists, satellite and in-situ data providers (multi-sensor InSAR, seismic, GPS - complete data sets) • Brings together community & relevant data • Support national authorities and policy makers in risk assessment and mitigation strategies for Geohazards

  20. CNR-IREA contribution to such Ecosystem • CNR-IREA is involved in several initiatives (SSEP, CIOP, Helix-Nebula) for porting its own scientific SBAS-InSAR processor within the Cloud • The final aim is to make SBAS easily available to and interoperable by the scientific community as well as the civil protection agencies and the regional administrations • As a side effect, also SMEs and commercial entities could benefit from the availability of the SBAS algorithm • The first experiment was carried out through the G-Pod (GRID Processing On Demand) platform of ESA, making SBAS available in an unsupervised way to scientific users
