Mission Statement • Mission: to contribute to the fight against poverty in the world (mainly South); • Vision: healthy animals, healthy humans! • Policy: DIO provides veterinary information and support to the underprivileged in the world, regardless of origin and political or religious beliefs.

  3. Objectives • 1. Veterinary Information Service • 2. Structural support • 3. Raising awareness • 4. Cooperation

  4. Veterinary Information Service(V.I.S.) • This is the question and answering service of DIO. • Number of questions fluctuates a lot. • 2003 only 20 questions; • 2004 40 questions. • Very often project proposals and inquiries for cooperation. • There is a standardized fill-in form on the website.

  5. Structural Support • Local Projects (most financial support); • Sending books, documents, materials; • Extended V.I.S.  more advices. • Another project: Agrodoks • DIO produces in cooperation with Agromisa boorlets about animals health, called Agrodoks.

  6. Raising Awareness • Symposia: once a year, broad public. • Information Evening: for veterinary students. • DIO-Dialoog: our medium. • Small presentations, debates, stands on exhibitions and so on…

  7. Cooperation • VSF Europa • INTI • Others • INTI also ITDG, Agromisa, ATOL and WOT are in INTI. • Others  faculty, university.

  9. VSF Europa • DIO is member of VSF-E from the beginning of VSF-E. • The only member consisting of only (but at this moment mainly) students. • The only member with only volunteers. Lenny Hogerwerf is our VSF representative and she is the president of VSF Europa untill April 2005

  10. Student’s meeting Last General Assembly in Solothurn (May 2004), the idea was raised of an international network of student organisations for vet med in dev coop. DIO wants to exchange experiences, gain more questions and see what we can do for others.
