Facts • Cephalopods are a group of invertebrate animals. • An invertebrate is an animal that doesn't have a back bone • There are 4 main types of cephalopods and all of them live in the sea. • The main cephalopods are octopuses, squids, cuttlefishes and nautiluses. • Most cephalopods have suckers on their arms or tentacles • Lots of cephalopods can quickly change their body colour to attract a mate, hide or scare away enemies • Some cephalopods can make their skin lighter or darker • Others can make different colour patterns on their bodies

Where do cephalopods live? • Cephalopods live in all oceans around the world • They can be found everywhere, from the deepest parts of the ocean through to the seashore • Some kinds of cephalopods prefer to live in the open sea where others prefer coral reefs or the sea floor • Other kinds of cephalopods like to live on the sea floor for half the day and in the open sea for the other half
