  1. Lisa McDonald 146a Dundas St Dunedin 0275472622 mcdli382@student.otago.ac.nz Personal Profile My name is Lisa McDonald. I am currently 20 years old and third year at Otago University studying Primary Teaching. This year I am enrolled in a variety of science papers including a biological anthropology paper and also a botany paper. I’m passionate about education and enjoy teaching children. I am a fun and happy person but also know how to work hard. I have been brought up on sheep and beef farms andIlove working outside with people and within a team. I am energetic, hardworking and friendly and am always up for a new challenge. Papers Over the last two years I have taken three health science papers; CELS 191, CHEM 191 and BIOC 192. I enjoyed these papers as I am interested in the health sciences. This year however I have found a new interest in Biological anthropology and have completed BIOA201 and am currently studying BIOA301. I like the aspects of history and evolution with in these papers, especially looking at the comparisons between chimpanzees and our ancient ancestors. I am enrolled in Botany papers (BTNY 221, 322,323). I enjoy these papers as they have a lot of cropping aspects which I am interested in due to my farming upbringing. I also like them as they incorporates aspects of biochemistry and biology which I studied in my first year. Work Experience I am a very organised person and do enjoy routine. I work hard and like to get things done quickly and efficiently. This can be seen in the summer jobs that I have had. I have worked on many dairy farms and love being outdoors and being able to see progress. I am also very self sufficient, which probably comes from being a farmer. I enjoy having my own vegetable garden, producing my own food and love going home to the farm. Internship I have a variety of science interests; chemistry, biology, anatomy and botany. Therefore for my internship I would be interested in working within any of these fields. I would however like to still be involved with education due to the fact that I am going to be a teacher. For my internship I would be interested in doing a variety of tasks from research to helping with education programmes. I am interested in Learning Outside The Classroom and therefore would be very interested in being an intern for an educator at a place such as Portobello or Orokonui. For my internship I would be interested in anything within the science field. I would be interested in from research to I know that the science department at University organises a science fair and also spends an afternoon a week at some schools such as Dunedin North Intermediate which I would be interested in going a long to. There is another organisation (New Zealand International Science Festival) that holds a science fair in Dunedin during the winter holidays for children. If possible I would like to do my internship mainly in first semester on Mondays and Fridays if possible and/or the holidays as second semester I have more on. Interests and Activities My interests and hobbies include spending time with my family and friends and outdoor activities such as waterskiing, wakeboarding, snowboarding and tramping. At high school I was the Sports Prefect of the school. Part of my duties were to organise sports events and inter-schools. Through being a student leader I learnt good communication skills and how to work well with a lot of different people. Due to the hectic work load of high school, sport and being a student leader I also learnt very good time management skills.
