  1. Frequency of Association Request in KDDI data Authors: Date: 2013-07-17 Santosh Pandey (Cisco)

  2. Abstract The presentation analysis data captured by KDDI in Tokyo railway station and investigates frequency of Association Request observed in the sniffer trace Santosh Pandey (Cisco)

  3. Consider the time difference between consecutive Association Request • Say it is called delta_T_AscReq • Most of the Association Request are within 5 secs of each other (i.e. delta_T_AscReq < 5 secs) • There are 79 Association Request and hence 78 time intervals Histogram indicating the rate of Association Request Santosh Pandey (Cisco)

  4. Histogram indicating the rate of Association Request • The following histogram considers only data with delta_T_AscReq < 1 sec • This may be considered as a zoomed in part of the previous histogram • As seen that there are only 7 Association Request within 100 millisec Santosh Pandey (Cisco)

  5. Statistics: • Mean: 3.9021 sec • Median: 1.6644 sec • Min: 0.0012 sec • Max: 43.6548 sec • Total number of Association Request considered: 79 • There are 79 Association Request and hence 78 time intervals • Time interval of the sniffer trace 303.809803 sec on a single Overall Statistics Santosh Pandey (Cisco)

  6. Assuming the standard Beacon interval of 100msec. From the 79 observed Association Request only 7 Association Requests coming within a Beacon Interval This is very easily handled by existing CSMA and no peak of Association Request was observed Conclusion Santosh Pandey (Cisco)
