  1. Who’s In Charge Here? Submission to Authority

  2. Who’s In Charge Here? I. All Authority Is Delegated By God (Romans 13:1-2).

  3. Who’s In Charge Here? Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. Romans 13:1-2

  4. Who’s In Charge Here? Slaves, in all things obey those who are your masters on earth, not with external service, as those who merely please men, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. Colossians 3:22-24

  5. Who’s In Charge Here? I. All Authority Is Delegated By God (Romans 13:1-2). II. Submission to Authority Reflects Jesus’ Character (1 Peter 2:18-24).

  6. Who’s In Charge Here? Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable. For this finds favor, if for the sake of conscience toward God a person bears up under sorrows when suffering unjustly.

  7. Who’s In Charge Here? For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God. For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth;

  8. Who’s In Charge Here? and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. 1 Peter 2:18-24

  9. Who’s In Charge Here? I. All Authority Is Delegated By God (Romans 13:1-2). • Submission to Authority Reflects Jesus’ Character (1 Peter 2:18-24). • Submission to Authority Will Be Rewarded (Romans 13:3-4; 1 Peter 2:19-20).

  10. Who’s In Charge Here? For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. Romans 13:3-4

  11. Who’s In Charge Here? For this finds favor, if for the sake of conscience toward God a person bears up under sorrows when suffering unjustly. For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God. 1 Peter 2:19-20

  12. Who’s In Charge Here? • Pray for those in authority (2 Timothy 2:1-2). • Pray for new attitudes toward authority. • Pray for the ability to obey.
