  10. STRATEGIES FOR INCREASING CROP PRODUCTION FOR KHARIF – 2005 • Advancement of Kharif sowing especially in rainfed area to take full advantage • of rain. • Bringing more area under HYV/Hybrid. • Optimum use of plant nutrient with proper placement and use of Bio-fertilizers • and Bio Pesticides. • Optimum use of irrigation water for cereals, pulses, Oilseeds. etc. • Mechanisation of Farming System. • Bringing more areas under Bio-organic farming for in situ soil nutrient management . • Dessimination of latest technology in production through training and other media. • 8. Timely positioning of quality seeds. • 9. Thrust will be continued to increase productivity and profitability level.

  11. CENTRALLY SPONSERED SCHEMES IMPLEMENTED • ISOPOM (Under Technology Mission) • I Oilseeds Production Programme (OPP) • ii National Pulses Development Project. (NPDP) • iii. Accelerated Maize Development Programme (AMDP) • Under this programme 1,80,000 numbers of Red Oil Palm sprouts • were raised in poly-pots which will be planted in field covering 1000 Ha during • kharif 2005.

  12. NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Watershed Development Programme in Shifting Cultivation Areas (WDPSCA) During the IX Plan 33 WDPSCA Project covering 50,092 Ha During Xth Plan 42 projects covering area of 20,000 ha.

  13. ORGANIC FARMING The Government of Mizoram have introduced Mizoram Organic Farming Bill 2004 under which various activities like development of Organic Farm, Vermi-Composting, Composting with EM technology and training programme are being conducted One Bio-Fertilizers Production Unit set up with assistance from the GOI with production capacity of 75 MT per year. Proposal for setting up of one more Unit is submitted to GOI.

  14. PLANT PROTECTION Integrated Pest Management (IPM) With introduction of Organic Farming, Bio-pesticides will be utilised at maximum level State Biological Control Laboratory involve in mass production of Trichogramma Species and release in all part of Mizoram in coupled with training programmes in the IPM techniques The existing Laboratory will not be able to supply the requirement of Bio-Agent for the whole state, therefore, additional two State Biological Control Laboratory may be set up.
