  3. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 The reason why we have concerned as success • The life of villagers had changed with our • enlightenment according to the data. • We learned a lots throughout this project. • Bangladeshi rovers were hard working and • very earnest about this project. • Bangladesh Scouts, rovers, volunteer leaders • and officials accepted us and worked very • hard for us. • We have made the strong friendship between • Bangladesh and Japan. Bangladesh Japan Joint PHC & Nature Conservation Project Yoshio Danjoh Member, International Committee, SAJ

  4. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 Points to be noticed • Trouble in distributing materials in village. • Participation of rovers is still invisible. • Most of villagers have not moved to practice. • We need more information before we go to • project area. • Project fund has been spent more for • ceremony, souvenir and entertainment. • We ask to submit the financial report of the • project. Bangladesh Japan Joint PHC & Nature Conservation Project Yoshio Danjoh Member, International Committee, SAJ

  5. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 Points to be improved • We expect to co-work with the rover group in • Bangladesh Scouts. • We should reconsider the real meaning of • twinning project for more youth participation. • Villagers should be our customer, and their • needs should be reflected our project. • We should spend more time in village and • more budget for villagers. • We should reconsider how to distribute in the • village. Bangladesh Japan Joint PHC & Nature Conservation Project Yoshio Danjoh Member, International Committee, SAJ

  6. Project Organisation

  7. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 Essence of Primary Health Care The people have the right and duty to participate individually and collectively in the planning and implementation of their health care. (quote from Alma Ata Declaration, 1977) Leadership in PHC and thus HFA means having the ability to influence and motivate the community people to accept those values and take initiative. (quote from Draft proposal for Agreement from Bangladesh Scouts, Feb.2002) We can understand the PHC should be taken the Bottom up strategy rather than the Top down strategy let people aware and practice empower individual, people and community Bangladesh Japan Joint PHC & Nature Conservation Project Yoshio Danjoh Member, International Committee, SAJ

  8. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 Why people does not move to practice phase ? • Now • Rovers can show to people how to make health by PHC. • Rovers can show to people how to keep health by PHC. • Rovers can show to people how to ……. • Next stage • Rovers should show to people how to plan their family health. • Rovers should show to people how to decide their family health. • Rovers should show to people how to manage their family health. • And then • People must aware the value of PHC. • People must take initiatives for their family health. • People must practice PHC. Bangladesh Japan Joint PHC & Nature Conservation Project Yoshio Danjoh Member, International Committee, SAJ

  9. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 Can rovers show how to manage the health ? If “No”, can you show us the reason ? • We guess • Rovers have no chance for planning. • Rovers have no chance for decision making. • Rovers have no chance for management • We apologize if we are wrong…. • We should promote • to empower rovers to manage themselves. • to let rovers to plan, decide and implement our project. • to assign suitable scouters to facilitate rovers. Bangladesh Japan Joint PHC & Nature Conservation Project Yoshio Danjoh Member, International Committee, SAJ

  14. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 Youth Participation in WOSM Scouting is a Movement of young people, supported by adults; It is not a Movement for young people managed by adults only. Thus, Scouting offers the potential for a learning community of young people and adults, working together in a partnership of enthusiasm and experience. quote from Policy on Involvement of Young Members in Decision-making, 1993 In the true spirit of “Learning by Doing”, young people must therefore – in addition to “self-government” in local Scout units – be allowed the opportunity to take part in the “government” of the Movement, through having a meaningful part to play in the decision-making processes at all levels, local, national and international. quote from Policy on Involvement of Young Members in Decision-making, 1997 Bangladesh Japan Joint PHC & Nature Conservation Project Yoshio Danjoh Member, International Committee, SAJ
