Clinton’s Accomplishments • ECONOMIC • Decreased budget deficit • Increased government surplus • Created jobs / lowest unemployment rate in decades • Lowest poverty rate since 1979 • SOCIAL • Lowest number of people on welfare in decades • Improved access to health care • Lowest crime rates in 25 years

Impeachment of Clinton • In 1998, the House of Reps impeaches the President on the charge of perjury when he lies about the nature of his relationship with Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern. • TheSenate does not convict Clinton I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.

  8. Iraq Conflict 2003-2010 • On the assumption that Saddam Hussein and his regime were amassing weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), the United States invaded Iraq in 2003. • After toppling Hussein’s government, sectarian violence kept American troops in the region until 2010.
