Key Achievements to date • Inaugural meeting of LIS Steering Group held • External capacity and capability engaged to support Evidence Base phase – Amion Consulting • Open call for views/evidence issued – closes 17 May • Initial headline analysis compiled • Agreed key stakeholders for Evidence Base collation • Tender spec issued – support for business engagement phase • Met with GFirstand Marches LEPs to identify collaboration opps

  4. Next Period • Agree Independent Panel members and agree dates / approach • Spin-out LIS Steering Group meetings held to deep-dive on key themes • Develop tender spec requirements for next phase support – development of final product (includes market engagement exercise to understand lack of tender responses last time) • Collate views / evidence from WLEP’s Open Call • Amion to undertake key stakeholder engagement • Meetings across LEP Network to identify further collaboration opps • Agree, prepare and commence business engagement piece for May/June • LEP Board away day and Worcestershire Leaders Board sessions

  5. Programme – Critical Path • Stakeholder Engagement – April/May • Evidence Base complete – July • Initial Draft produced – September • Stakeholder Engagement – October • WLEP Board Sign-off – November • Submission to Government – December • Publish LIS – March 2020

Key Risks / Challenges • Capacity from central government to support all LEPs recognising national landscape • Capacity of WLEP – partial receipt of additional capacity funding from central government • Availability of analytical skills and capacity to review Evidence Base – mitigated through external support • Competing priorities – implementation of LEP Review recommendations e.g. Legal personality, LEP Delivery Plan, Local Assurance Framework, Inward Investment, Sustainability of BetaDen, APR recommendations, 5G sustainability, existing LGF programme etc.
